Naturopathic medicine often involves the use of injections under the skin, into the muscle, or intravenously (IV). These are usually vitamins, minerals, or amino acids and can be powerfully anti-inflammatory as well as replace nutrient deficiencies very quickly.

Subcutaneous injections

The sensory nerves of the skin can contribute to chronic pain and can be targeted for pain and injury therapy. This area of the body can also be targeted with injections to improve the healing and function of scars. Common ingredients that are used for these purposes are procaine, dextrose, ozone, and hyaluronic acid. Which one is used depends on the issue being treated as well as the desired outcome.

IM Vitamins

Injecting vitamins intramuscularly allows for vitamins to be put directly into the body, bypassing the gut, for immediate use by the body. Fat based vitamin injection (Vitamin D) allow for a slow release of that vitamin over time. This is perfect for someone who has gut absorption issues or is not great at remembering to take vitamins. IV therapy

Naturopathic IV therapy is the infusion of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the vein in larger doses than via injection. This is advantageous in many conditions, as it doesn’t require absorption by the GI system so more is immediately available for use by the body. Dr. Shannon individually makes each person’s IV formula to cater to their specific health needs. IV therapy is not appropriate for everyone, but can be a fantastic addition to eligible patient’s treatment plan. Book a free 15 min meet and greet to learn more!
